We all know that first impressions count.

And while we may think that our words are the most important factor in making a good first impression, the truth is that our nonverbal cues can speak just as loudly, if not louder.

In fact, research has shown that around 70 to 93% of communication is non-verbal! That’s why it’s important to take a closer look at how you present yourself.

Do people see you as an intelligent person right off the bat?

In this article, I’m going to show you ten ways to show off your smarts without even saying a word.

Let’s jump in!

1) Show up on time

First off is the time you arrive at meetings and events. This might seem like a weird way to show people you’re smart, but give me a minute, and I’ll tell you why it makes sense.

When you think about it, being punctual is a sign of an organized and disciplined mind

It conveys respect, professionalism, a sense of responsibility, and reliability – all traits of a smart person

It also shows you want to create a positive and productive environment where everyone can work harmoniously and meet their goals.

When you’re early or on time, you’re making a good impression right away.

2) Make confident eye contact

Once you’ve shown up (remember, early and on time!), don’t forget to make eye contact with the people you meet.

Research shows that eye contact is an important nonverbal cue that can show off your intelligence. When you look someone in the eye, you’re showing them that you’re confident and that you’re interested in what they have to say.

Another plus – it makes you more likable
