- Most Annoying Interviewer Ever

I’m sure we’ve all been to interviews where the interviewer didn’t have the best etiquette.
Bad eye contact, lack of preparation, forgetting your name…
But there are a few things that really get under my skin with interviewers, especially when it happens more than once.
A small anecdote
You’re probably wondering how I know.
Well, back in my younger days (before I was a business owner) I attended a few interviews, looking for a new position.
There was one in particular that I can still remember clear as day. It was to work with a huge, corporate company.
Anyway, I had my first stage interview, gave a fantastic presentation and felt like I’d made a really good impression. I was shortlisted out of around a hundred people to attend a second interview. There were only three of us who got through.
So, I arrived early, looking smart and with a head full of interview techniques.
The lady interviewing me, we’ll call her Sharon, came down and greeted me before we went into the interview room. I’m not sure how or when something went wrong, but the whole interview Sharon didn’t make, or even attempt to make, eye contact with me.
Not even once.
She sat gazing out of the window, only breaking the glaze over her eyes when she heard a pause and asked another question.
I put it down to her being nervous, but she didn’t seem nervous and it was extremely infuriating… I felt as if she gave no care in the world.
Anyway, she cut my interview short after asking three questions:
- What’s your work history?
- Why would you be good for this role?
- What hobbies do you have?
And that was that. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t down to me, since from the first minute it felt as though she didn’t want to know me.
Although, there is such thing as etiquette. But we’ll get on to the infographic now. I’d say these seventeen points definitely make the most annoying interviewer ever.
