WeWork’s CEO Insults Employees Who Prefer Working Remotely

On Wednesday, during The Wall Street Journal’s Future Of Everything festival, Sandeep Mathrani, CEO of WeWork, made some disparaging (and incorrect) comments about remote employees.

Linking employees’ engagement to their desire to work from home, he said, “It’s also pretty obvious that those who are overly engaged with the company want to go to the office two-thirds of the time at least. Those who are least engaged are very comfortable working from home.” 

Not only are these comments incredibly insulting to anyone who enjoys working from home, but they’re also flat out wrong.

In Leadership IQ’s study The State Of Working From Home, a survey of 3,706 employees working from home revealed that 23% would like to work from home all the time and another 39% want to work from home 3-4 days per week. By contrast, only 9% want to work in an office all the time.
