MUMBAI: ASEEM (Aatamanirbhar Skilled Employee Employer Mapping), a directory of skilled workforce launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in July, has seen massive demand for skilled labour within ten weeks of its launch amid a recovery in economic activity, rise in mobility and a pickup in retail, construction and agricultural activity.
There are around 500,000 verified job vacancies for skilled blue-collar workers for October-December on the platform, developed and managed by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with a Bengaluru-based company, Betterplace. About 60,000 people have been employed in just over two months through the platform as states keep relaxing restrictions, more businesses open up and festive demand gathers pace.
