How do you decode the DNA of HR in Asia?  What really lies underneath?


Rao: Asian countries are vast. India itself is large and there is no one DNA but several DNAs. I put them on a continuum ranging from one extreme to the other. The bottom of the Continuum with score Zero: DNA of HR in Asia in my view is mechanised, outsourced, consultant driven, convenience based and development fashioned.


Business Outsourcing, Consultant, SAP, ERP and Information Technology based systems drive it rather than people, roles, goals, relationships and talent. That makes it mechanical. Leaves are sanctioned on the basis of eligibility by the computer rather than the necessity or the need with human touch.
