India Inc has stepped up hiring in line with the government’s thrust on fast-tracking green growth, with companies such as Vedanta GroupSchneider Electric and Tata Steel scouting for talent for profiles in sustainability, energy, waste management, green infrastructure and other environmental and sustainability related fields.

Demand for these profiles has surged 80-100% compared to that last year, according to experts.

However, the talent pool is sparse as most of these profiles are new, human resources (HR) heads and executives at recruitment and staffing firms, including Randstad, Manpower, TeamLease and foundit (formerly Monster), told ET.
