Narrative of the Lion

By | Adil Malia | www.adilmalia.com

The African proverb, “until the lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter,” is a powerful narrative to metaphorically describe how dominant people inscribe power through historical narrative. The world turns a deaf ear to the voice of the weak and thus coarses silence of the lambs.

Corporates often experience their own share of this aphorism. Arrogant, power crazy, incompetent bosses often indulge in partisan, non-inclusive one-sided reviews. The silent Lambs have no voice and thus die a thousand deaths.

Professional organizations therefore have strong forums and stable structures to formally address concerns of Associates who feel victimized by the behaviours and reviews of their Managers. That is the only way to get the lions have their historians rewrite the correct narrative and correct the falsely glorified narrative of the hunter.
