Mumbai & Bengaluru: Tata Consultancy Services, India’s largest IT employer, aims to significantly reduce the amount of time its employees spend in office in the next five years, top executives said, as it seeks to deepen the remote working model occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic, heralding similar initiatives by the country’s $147 billion outsourcing industry.
TCS NSE 0.99 %’s chief operating officer N Ganapathy Subramaniam said the company believes that it does not “need to have more than 25% of workforce at our facilities in order to make all the 100% productive.” Pointing out that every employee need not be present in the office all time he said, “I think it’s sufficient that they spend 25% of their time in our offices.”
IT companies earlier offered employees the option to work from home only for a limited number of days, but were forced to alter their policies overnight to stem the spread of Covid-19.
