Maruti Suzuki NSE 2.46 % has agreed to abide by Haryana’s job quota policy, which stipulates 75 percent of jobs go to people from the state, after securing certain concessions.
After an intervention by Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and his deputy and industries minister Dushyant Singh Chautala, the country’s top carmaker dropped its opposition to the contentious clause as it announced plans to invest Rs 18,000 crore in a new manufacturing facility at IMT Kharkhoda in Sonipat district.
According to Chautala, Maruti has been told that the quota will apply only to workers earning up to Rs 30,000 per month, not Rs 50,000 as previously proposed, Times of India reported.
