While there are many well known Competencies of Leadership, there are basic Psychological traits to know and look for ..

Pangloosian – is a Psychological term to mean – The state of “Extreme Optimism” . It is a mental attitude or  World view. especially in  the face of unrelieved hardship or adversity.  Optimist to the Core !

This can be a very positive trait to look for in Leaders.

The term is defined as expecting the best possible outcome from any given situation. This is usually referred to in psychology as dispositional optimism. It thus reflects a belief that future conditions will work out for the best.

Methods to measure Optimism have been developed within both theoretical systems, such as various forms of the Life Orientation Test (LOT) , for  optimism, or the Attribution Style Questionnaire designed to test optimism in terms of explanatory style.

Leaders with Pangloosian state of mind are also good at narrating and  selling dreams …. and great communicators ….now an emerging trait !.

Leadership is seen as the art of effectively selling a dream and convincingly make others to join and- making it a “shared dream”.

New Opportunities, New ideas, New Venture, involves dreaming about the big picture, and a never say die attitude is all about Pangloosian.
