Seeking Ambassadors of Happiness

By | Papa CJ | Comedian • Executive Coach • Author • Oxford MBA • HBR Writer • • WIT of the Week newsletter on LinkedIn, & • I uplift others & help them be the best version of themselves

The Papa CJ Happiness Project is a seed that was planted in India. An idea. A belief. A belief that making a difference to the life of even one person, for even a short time, matters. A belief that if many people across the world did the same, the world would be a brighter and happier place.

This belief led to the second initiative under The Papa Happiness Project. This year Papa CJ put out an open offer to visit people who have been unwell for a long time, in their homes and hospital rooms, and bring laughter and cheer to them and their families. His offer received an overwhelming response from patients, their families and even hospitals. He visited them and in addition to performing stand-up comedy, he ran laughter yoga sessions as well. The only payment he asked in return was for them to share a laughing photograph of theirs with him every day.

Papa CJ performed in a room for only two people and also in rooms for over two hundred. The feedback from the families he visited was heartwarming. Many hadn’t seen their unwell family member laugh like that for months or even years. Having seen first hand that one person with positive energy can make a difference to the lives of many, he now wants more Ambassadors of Happiness to join him in his mission to make the world a happier place.

It doesn’t matter what skill you have. If you think there is anything you can do to bring a smile to the faces of people who haven’t smiled in a while, you can be an Ambassador of Happiness. Sing a song, read a story, do some laughter yoga, paint them a picture, watch a movie together, dance, whistle, do a crossword, play a board game…or just listen. The possibilities are infinite. All you have to do is start.

We’d love to share your stories of bringing smiles to people and photographs of people whom you bring you joy to. Please email with your stories and media and tag #PapaCJHappinessProject in your posts.
