Today’s age and time is creating opportunities for people to get high-paying  jobs and earn sufficiently without the need for a college degree. However, many people still want to attend college, even though it’s prohibitively expensive due to the high costs of tuition, lodging, and books.

In a country like Nigeria, where there is uncertainty on duration of years one can spend in colleges due to the effects of nationwide strikes, many people choose private colleges as an alternative. This comes with high tuition fees, according to Statista, the average yearly tuition fee for a bachelor’s program at a private institution in 2019 was $5,800 (N2.4 million). This degree, however, doesn’t still guarantee a high-paying job.  

The economy isn’t what it used to be, and a college diploma isn’t a guarantee of a high-paying job, even though people with a college degree earn more than secondary school graduates on average.

However, obtaining a college diploma isn’t the sole route to a prosperous financial future. Here are 5 high-paying jobs that don’t require you to have a college degree

Web Developer

More web developers that understand how to construct and maintain websites are needed in today’s corporate world. Web developers typically specialise in either “front-end” or “back-end” work which is designing the layout of a website, integrating applications, graphics, technical construction of the website and writing the code that allows it to function. 

Developers have a wide range of alternatives when it comes to the type of environment they wish to work in, as their abilities are applicable to a wide range of industries, including insurance, e-commerce, publishing, and finance, to mention a few. A large number of web developers work for themselves.
