Coffee and lunch breaks, bumping into people while going around, gossip by the water cooler, stopping by someone’s desk for a small chat and the office white noise of humming air conditioner, colleagues talking in the background, sounds of the keyboards, etc. are vital for a worker’s well-being.

A 24-year-old Bengaluru software engineer working at a top global tech firm on a salary of Rs 58 lakh is feeling very lonely. “I am always overwhelmed and lonely in my life. I don’t have a girlfriend to spend time with, and all of my other buddies are preoccupied with their lives,” he wrote in a note that has been doing the rounds on social media.
