India Inc’s senior leaders are heading back to (online) classrooms to ready themselves for big transformational challenges in the new world of work.

Edtech platforms including Emeritus, Coursera, upGrad, Simplilearn and Great Learning say they have seen a sharp uptick in the number of top executives—including CXOs—who are opting for upskilling to stay on top of things in a fast-changing business environment.

Courses in generative AI, ChatGPT, machine learning, data science and business analytics and leadership skills are finding the most traction among senior leaders. Tech, tech services, BFSI and healthcare are the sectors with the maximum number of takers.

“Businesses are being transformed by the forces of AI, sustainability and geopolitics. In our massively interconnected world, a CEO change in Silicon Valley or a shipping crisis in the Red Sea or the pronouncements at COP28 impacts businesses. This is driving leaders to pursue courses that give them a framework to better understand the world,” said Mohan Kannegal, CEO-India and APAC, Emeritus.

Emeritus’ CXO programmes now attract 5x the number of enrolments compared to last year, said Kannegal.
