In 1992, as a young management trainee, I must have seemed like a handful for all my trainers at Unilever. I questioned everything – why do we have to go to the back of beyond for our sales training (in my case it was Gorakhpur), why do we need to stay in hotels that salespeople stay in – after all we were managers! Why couldn’t I pay from my own pocket and upgrade to a better hotel etc etc etc
