Leading staffing companies are leveraging every possible channel to tap new talent pools amid intense competition, soaring attrition levels and a manpower supply crunch as this year’s festive season is likely to drive up the need for workers to fill 500,000-600,000 temporary roles.
At staffing companies such as Quess, TeamLease Services, CIEL HR Services, Manpower, Randstad and Persolkelly, mobilisers are sourcing candidates from skill development and educational institutes; fanning out across rural and semi-urban areas to spread the word about employment opportunities; engaging with socially influential individuals to recommend jobs to candidates; using email and social media campaigns to track candidates; tapping ex-defence personnel and differently abled people and drawing from government and skilling databases. Some are even using bus conductors, autorickshaw drivers and security guards for referrals.
Companies are luring these candidates with up to 30% higher compensation, incentives and bonuses as well as upskilling and reskilling opportunities. Some are being provided accommodation; the best performers are also being promised longer-term contracts with clients. “These are the biggest draws for people coming mainly from informal unorganised sectors where minimum wages, social security and other benefits are not provided,” said Lohit Bhatia, president, workforce management, Quess.
