Bangalore: In a big move, Tata Motors CIO Jagdish Belwal has quit the Tata Group company last week to join GE Transportation, formerly known as GE Rail – a division of American multinational conglomerate corporation General Electric (GE). Belwal has been designated as GE Transportation’s International CIO.

However, Belwal was not available for immediate comments for this news report.
He worked as CIO of Tata Motors for close to 8 years before he decided to move to GE Transportation. At Tata Motors, he was responsible for developing and executing IT strategy with the focus on comprehensive IT enablement for business functions and to build a strong, updated technology architecture and management processes.
He led adoption of mobility, cloud and IT modernisation of Tata Motors to support company’s future business strategies.
He had joined the company in March 2002 as Head of CRM and DMS, before being promoted to CIO’s role in March 2009. Prior to Tata Motors, Belwal worked for seven years at Tata Hitachi as service engineer.
Overall, Belwal spent more than 22 years at Tata Motors. Previously, he worked for about five years at Telco, which was a construction equipment business unit of Tata Motors but later it was hive-off as Tata Hitachi, however he continued working with the company.
