“We shall not cease from exploration, And the end of all our exploring, Will be to arrive where we started, And know the place for the first time…” – TS Elliot

During the summer of 2019, as I was prepping for the EBC (Everest base camp) expedition, at one trial-run evening in northern Virginia, I got introduced to the concept of the “Happiness Advantage” by a fellow hiker … Now this was of great interest to me, considering the fact that to ace the expedition, the focus was not primarily on my physical prowess, but probably a stronger footing of mental ‘positivity’ that will define not only my success … but our survival 😊. So, I cozied up to better understand the concept… simply put the human brain in positive reinforcements works significantly better than in negative, neutral or stressed conditions. The analytics of outcome depicts that only ~25% of successes are related to IQ… but around ~75% depends on optimism level, social support and the ability to see stress as an opportunity than threat.

15+ years … the journey went from single, to being married, a father, new geographies, TSA lines, encounter cancer in the family, graduate to Middle school… my entire life flashes by when I think of this incredible association … and in the background, unknowingly, the ‘happiness advantage’ played its role.

Friday was my last working day in Genpact… Never an easy transition when roots are nearly one and half decades deep – with its fair share of desire, delight and discovery. Has been an exhilarating journey across myriad verticals, accounts, practices, geographies & cultures, working with some amazing colleagues, partners and friends that begs a feeling of overwhelming gratitude.

As the saying goes, “If you knew what I know about the power of giving you would not let a single meal pass without sharing it in some way…” – Our current times requires this utmost sense and sensibility as we ride the eco-system and realize that a crisis reveals as much as it devastates. I have seen empathy play out in many forms through my time here. Being vulnerable has not made me weak, in fact I have cherished it. And over the years I have realized Curiosity and Judgement can’t coexist… but Expertise and Humility does make a perfect match.
