The beginning of a new space age

By | Richard Branson | Founder at Virgin Group

I’ve always been a dreamer. My mum taught me to never give up and to reach for the stars – advice I followed quite literally. This Sunday (July 11), I couldn’t be more excited to turn that dream into a reality aboard the next Virgin Galactic spaceflight UNITY22, and I wanted to mark the moment with a special space edition of my LinkedIn Newsletter.

I’ve wanted to go to space ever since I was a young boy and watched the moon landings from our black and white television set. When commercial spaceflights did not look likely for my generation, I registered the name Virgin Galactic with the hope of creating a company that could make it happen.

17 years later and I’m thrilled that Virgin Galactic is at the vanguard of this new space age that I’ve been dreaming about for so long. I truly believe that the wonders of space should be open to everybody, and I would love for you to witness the UNITY22 space mission alongside us, as it will be livestreamed here at 6am PT (9am ET, 2pm BST) on Sunday (July 11). You can set a reminder to watch it right here too.

At Virgin Galactic, we believe that the answers to many of the challenges we face in sustaining life on our beautiful but fragile planet, lie in making better use of space.
