If your favorite restaurant managed to stay in business through the industry’s worst year in living memory, it may be hiring now — and bustling again soon.  

The number of job postings for restaurant servers more than doubled between March and April 2021, according to the latest LinkedIn data.

That makes it one of the top ten jobs in terms of the fastest-growing demand, though it is far from the only restaurant or retail role to grace the list.

This growth in demand is largely driven by countries — like the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada — in which half or more of the population has been vaccinated and restrictions on indoor dining are relaxing.

Retail and restaurant roles are roaring back

Seven out of the top ten jobs are in retail or restaurants, with roles like dishwasher and cashier in high demand. 

The two jobs with the fastest-growing demand reflect the reemergence of retail on two fronts: retail associates for brick-and-mortar stores and fulfillment associates for ecommerce delivery.

  8. Translation Specialist (+56%)
  9. Quality Assurance Engineer (+53%)
  10. Service Associate (+53%)
