Three Ways To Support Your Team’s Success Through Leadership

Many entrepreneurs would likely tell you, “Say what you mean, and mean what you say!” You must stand behind your company, business model and the mission statement you show to your employees. If you don’t, what do you expect your employees to stand behind?

Now, with sales and marketing, this is especially true. However, there are also finer details to pay attention to. Not only do you have to have a product or service you believe in, you must get others to back the product as well. When you can manage this task, you can grow your overall business. On the opposite side, when working in the field of sales and marketing, it is easy to go astray and hinder your growth and success by failing to motivate and stay involved with your sales team.

Having been in this field for more than 10 years, I have gone through trials and tribulations. I have failed — and learning from these failures has ultimately led to my successes. The number one notion that I have taken throughout my journey is, if you travel off course and don’t stay involved in the day-to-day activity, you can easily derail your sales team — or any team, for that matter. How do I know? Because I have done it!

You might choose to wake up one day and say, “I’m the boss. I’ve made it!” — thinking you are above the sales team and the daily grind. But the bottom line is, you are never above anything. The intensity and grind never stop for entrepreneurs or professionals in the sales and marketing field. You must constantly grow and develop other people to help continue to grow your business and profitability and sustain the long-term growth that’s projected. Here are three ways I’ve learned to do this.

1. Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

Simple, right? No, it’s not. These days, people often do not follow that saying like they used to. For me, I do my best, when making a commitment to follow through on something, to make a note of it — whether I place this note on my calendar, set a meeting with someone or implement action right away. I do whatever it is I can to make sure my people know I am a person of my word and their ideas, thoughts or changes never go without notice.
