Is anybody excited about this? Are you salivating at the new…something that will result from Verizon buying Yahoo?
When you hear the name “Verizon” or think about the company, what immediately comes to mind? At least if you’re not considering their announced planned purchase of Yahoo today for $4.83 billion.
Can you name him?
That’s Lowell McAdam, CEO of Verizon Communications.
Let’s try another, just for fun. Guess the CEO/Founder.
Hey, that’s Elon Musk of Tesla, SpaceX and Hyperloop fame. You probably got that one. I hope.
How about this guy?
Correct! That’s Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon.com, owner of Washington Post and also launcher of space rockets with Blue Origin.
Here’s an easy one.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook.
Aside from each of these guys knowing way more about you than you probably realize, what’s the difference between them and McAdam?
Unless you’re a regular reader and watcher of business news you probably couldn’t name the Verizon CEO. But this is LinkedIn, so there’s a good chance this audience would recognize him while most others couldn’t.
Despite whatever your personal views might be of innovators like Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg, there’s a reason people know their faces and names. These are people, and companies, who are constantly innovating in major ways.
Musk and Bezos are launching rockets and have ambitious plans to go to Mars. Zuckerberg is buying up VR like candy and has legions of the smartest people in the world always figuring out what it is that you want to engage with.
