VIEW FROM THE SIDELINES AT Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 – BHARAT RAMANI
CES 2016 was more than a Launchpad for Companies launching their products. This global event has now become a showcase of Startups / Companies from different countries around the world trying to capture the limelight for being Innovative and Disruptive. It provides a platform for companies to prove that they are in the forefront of building new products. If this event gives such an opportunity to everyone, is it wrong to expect participation from countries that envision themselves as Technology Leaders of the next decade? No, unless you plan to be disappointed.
I walked around the vast pavilions of the Tech East, West and South sections and could locate only a couple of Indian companies. “GENZE by Mahindra, manufactured in US” could be the only visible Indian company? Since the focus this year was to encourage startups from different parts of the world, I thought Indian companies would make their presence felt. I was hoping that somewhere there would be some company from India, but I could not locate any.
