The introduction of the hybrid work model post pandemic came in as a welcome change, as it provided a flexible work life to so many. The conversation on the pros and cons of a hybrid work model has been evolving for quite some time now. However, what is not so commonly discussed is its untapped potential in promoting gender equality and equal stakeholdership within families.

In several sectors with a male dominated workforce, promoting a hybrid work model has the potential to shift the gender ratios significantly by inviting more women to work. The shift that I am focusing on here is not only focused on flexibility but enabling a paradigm shift in the societal expectations from women, of being the primary caretaker of a household for which their career often takes a backseat.

The hybrid work model is one of the best tools for enabling this paradigm shift in our society. As per a study conducted by Avtar & Seramount, 97% of companies that implemented hybrid working practices, witnessed more women seeking employment with them. Companies and families should tap into this potential to bring more inclusion and equity into their respective set ups.
